Ingredients
  • Slices spelt bread 4
  • Neutral tasting high-heat oil 1 tbsp
  • Brown rice syrup 1 tsp
  • Sea salt 1/2 tsp
  • Finely ground black pepper 1/2 tsp
  • Paprika 1/2 tsp
  • Chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic powder 1/4 tsp
  • Dried oregano 1/2 tsp

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cut bread into small cubes and place in a bowl.
  3. Add oil, brown rice syrup, sea salt, black pepper, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder and oregano.
  4. Toss to coat.
  5. Place bread cubes on an ungreased, rimmed baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until croutons are crisp.
  6. Let cool before using.
  7. To serve, toss salad greens with dressing.
  8. Top with croutons and capers.
  9. Note: Croutons can keep for up to 1 week in an airtight container or metal tin
