  • All purpose flour 2 ½ cups
  • Baking soda 1 tbsp
  • Semisweet chocolate pieces 2 cup, 12 oz
  • Salt 1/2 tbp
  • Butter or margarine 1/2 cup
  • Shortening 1/2 cup
  • Packed brown sugar 1 cup
  • Granulated sugar 1/2 cup
  • Egg 1
  • Applesauce 1/4 cup
  • Vanilla 1 1/2 tsp

Note: Steve most baked goods are legal If we have more than one egg then I like to use applesauce, or oil.

Nuts are the one thing that will not work in baked goods & cakes.

Method

  1. Stir together flour, soda, and salt.
  2. In a mixer bowl beat butter and shortening on medium speed of electric mixer for 30 seconds.
  3. Add sugar and beat till fluffy.
  4. Add egg, and applesauce and vanilla; beat well.
  5. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating till well combined.
  6. Stir in chocolate pieces.
  7. Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake in 375° oven for 8 to 10 minutes or till done.
  9. Remove; cool.
  10. Makes about 72.
