8 reasons you feel bloated all the time
When it comes to bloating, there are a few things you’re probably doing without realizing it that make you feel bloated all the time. Learning what you’re doing wrong, and having some remedies for bloating can make all the difference in the world. If you’re ready for bloating to be a distant memory, keep reading...
1️⃣. You’re eating carb and protein foods in the same meal. I know you’ve been taught to eat a balanced diet, which is necessary, but not in the same sitting. Giving your body a few hours between carb and protein foods promotes enzyme digestion instead of stomach acid production.
2️⃣. You’ve been eating these balanced meals that require additional stomach acid for digestion for many years, multiple times per day. This can damage the delicate valve at the top of your stomach that normally opens to let food in and release digestive gases. Now that it has some damage it can become stiff and not open as easily to release trapped gas. Don’t worry, it’s never too late to start eating right for your body and the food rules are in the free book download at rachelstea.com
3️⃣. You’re drinking liquids (especially carbonated liquids) during your meals. Volume of food and liquid in your stomach is a big factor in how bloated you feel after each meal. Carbonation bubbles and tries to escape but when that valve is stiff, it has nowhere to go. Try not drinking during mealtime and avoiding carbonation as much as possible.
4️⃣. You’re eating too close to bedtime. Gravity is a factor in how much stomach acid touches that damaged valve. If you eat and then lay down, not only are you harming that valve we’re trying to fix, but you can also start experiencing nighttime acid reflux. Avoid eating near bedtime to make sure your meal has time to digest and “move along” before you lay down.
5️⃣. Your stomach lining, throat and valves may be inflamed from acid over time keeping them swollen and irritated, preventing them from working properly. Drinking a digestive tea like the one found at rachelstea.com helps fight inflammation through the entire digestive system.
6️⃣. You’re dealing with excessive stress which, other than diet, is one of the ways our bodies produce acid that keeps the entire digestive tract irritated and can also lead to bathroom “drama”. There are many stress management techniques that are available online for free, but one of our favorites is Rachel’s Curcumin Phytosome supplement. When the world is heavy and you need a mental boost, we find this supplement to be a complete game changer for stress and anxiety.
7️⃣. Avoiding alcohol, especially during meals is very helpful. Alcohol is hard on your body so if you’re going to drink, drink it separately from your meals and take 2 slippery elm capsules before each drink to provide some protection for your gut before you indulge.
8️⃣. You’re not taking Peppermint gels as needed. When bloating sets in hard, having a go to way to crush it is important. Rachel’s Peppermint Gels can cool and soothe the throat and the valve at the top of your stomach to allow it to open and close normally. They contain ginger and fennel to help calm and soothe the stomach and reduce gas down the line. Our favorite way to take them is to put two in your mouth with water, bite one firmly in your back teeth and swallow. The taste is very strong and minty, but this gets the soothing cooling oils to your throat quickly.
Rachels Tea is a small family business that does nothing but help clients through digestive issues including bloating. We’re available by phone or email and always here to help you figure out what to do if you have questions.
